Nice, simple recipe. However, fish cooks fast: stovetop+pan (medium-heat, lid instead of foil) would be simpler. Some may find the dish bland: minced ginger & garlic, maybe minced green chili, and stock/bouillon instead of water at Step 1 helps. (Thicken liquid with a little cornstarch/flour for gravy at Step 3.)The only thing wrong with peanuts is their cheapness. They're used by SE Asians for satay sauce, and by West Africans in their meat curries: they'll work here.

The nut salsa is fantastic - recommend adding a bit of lemon zest as well. Used it over oven roasted tilapia with lemon, garlic, salt and pepper but could see it working well on other dishes. Would be great for any grilled white fish too.

Oh man this is great!I KNOW this is quite the deviation but it worked great and was inspired by this recipe so here is my take:I added pomegranate seeds, a few chopped cherry tomatoes and fresh cilantro to the salsa. Also I found hazelnuts were an absolute delicious nut choice. Also lime juice instead of vinegar.I made this with coconut rice: make the rice the way you would with water but 1/2 the liquid is coconut milk and a teaspoon of sugar. The sweet rice with the tangy salsa is YUM

The nut salsa is great, will definitely use on other dishes. Used almonds and pecans.

I put them in a sandwich bag and hit them with a heavy spoon. Works for me.

Very easy, healthy way to cook fish. The kids liked it (they like plain). The sauce/dressing was extremely easy, tasty, and went well when I put the fish over baby kale and quinoa.

Brilliant recipe. Simple, quick and makes an attractive presentation. Added a bit of lemon zest to the salsa and a drizzle of good EVOO after plating. This is definitely a keeper.Thank you!

This recipe reminds me once again how much I love my steam oven (which does more than just stream things!). It's a mystery to me why steam ovens haven't caught on here as much as they have in Europe. We built a new house 3 years ago and decided to forego a microwave in favor of the steam oven. No regrets!

I used snapper. Nuts with pistachios I also added everything bagel seasoning which was delicious.

Made as written with cod on a stove top. 1.5 lb was a lot of fish it barely fit a large skillet! I don’t usually steam fish but it works well and easy. As other comments, fish itself needs some seasoning. I did sprinkle salt before steaming, and also showered generously with garlic powder. Nut salsa makes the dish and I wonder what if a bit of grated garlic was added in there. I bet it would give some zip sorely needed, as 1/2 tsps of black pepper alone wouldn’t do it.

I had to laugh. Since when is salmon a mild fish?

I love this recipe. It took a little longer for the fish to cook in my gas oven, but it turned out fabulous. I paired in with the Stuffed (with quinoa) Roasted Peppers in Tomato Sauce.

Mine was a disaster because I used frozen fish. The relish was great and I’ll use it again but cook the fish differently.

Followed the recipe exactly with cod and it was delicious. The nut salsa really makes this dish.

I had some leftover Dukkah and I used that with maple syrup (instead of honey) It was fabulous!

LOVED THIS- made with crushed rosemary-mix nuts from trader joe's (cashews and marconas) and did the pan steam with veggie stock. Hit it with some lemon zest atnd a squeeze of juice at the end. I always put my fish in buttermilk for a half hour before cooking and that gave it a very lovely finish. SO GOOD and very light. Used enough veggie stock that there was sauce for over rice or potatoes. Huge hit- good enough for company.

I steamed the filet with a good broth on the stovetop, covered. I used cashews and walnuts in the salsa, using a little less vinegar and more honey, and fresh basil, since that’s what I had. Served on a bed of farro. Yummy!

Salsa is delicious!! I used half pine nuts, half walnuts and almonds. Added Meyer lemon zest and quite a bit of salt and pepper.

Really tasty dish, made the Salsa as directed, but thought the salsa could use something, can't put my finger on it, maybe more honey for a bit more sweet taste? Will make again, though

This method of steaming fish requires really fresh fish, like from our local fishmonger, to enjoy it for it’s natural flavors. But I only had frozen (suspect) fish so I pan fried pieces after dusting in mochiko (rice powder). Loved the nut salsa and went great with the fish.

Overall, very simple and easy recipe. Loved the technique for cooking the fish. I'll do that again. Was not that thrilled with the nut salsa, too oily for me. If I try it again, I'd greatly reduce the amount of nuts and oil, increase the parsley and up the acidic notes.

This sounds like a very good recipe to try, especially since I often eat fish. I wonder if there's a quick and easy way to chop the nuts?
